Art of Surveillance

On the north side of E Gurley Street, about 90 feet west of Aven Drive, a Prescott Police Department Flock Safety ALPR camera quietly faces west.

A very short distance away sit the entrances and exits to the Community Pregnancy Center (the place with the big “Free Pregnancy Tests” signs).

That means vehicles turning into or out of the center can easily fall within the camera’s view. Plates get read. Times get logged. The usual Flock routine.

It’s one of those placements that makes you tilt your head a little. A clinic that offers free pregnancy tests and support… and a license-plate reader keeping score of who comes and goes.

Whether this is useful public-safety infrastructure or just another observant lens watching a sensitive door is something readers can decide for themselves.

At Art of Surveillance we simply note the facts: the camera is there, it faces west, and the driveway is close enough that turning vehicles may be captured.
